A More Relaxing Day

April 2nd, 2012
Day 2
Today's Miles: 11.8

Last night at Lake Morena got pretty cold, so cold in fact, we woke up to ice on our tent. But surprisingly, we both got up with a huge amount of enthusiasm for the coming day. Because we got in so late the day before we decided to get a late start and ended up hitting the trail about 9:30am.

It got warm quickly so we had to contend with the bright sun all day, but compared to our first day, we had a very relaxed hike. The morning gave way to relatively level trail and beautiful desert views. We had hiked maybe an hour and a half when we came to this bridge with very cool PCT art and hiker signatures on it.

Kristin left our mark on it too.

After filtering some water we met up with two hikers that we're at the monument when we started and another who camped a few spots over from us at Morena (who we would later come to know as Hawk). We flip flopped with them over the next few miles until we camped with Hawk at Fred Canyon for the night.
